How We Test & Rate Tools
Every rating on SaaSComparer is built from structured, repeatable testing rather than gut feeling or vendor marketing. Here is exactly how we do it.
We evaluate each tool through a combination of hands-on testing inside real accounts, ongoing usage on actual projects, and a careful read of aggregated user reviews from sources like G2, Capterra, and Trustpilot. That blend matters: hands-on testing catches things reviews miss, and large review samples catch problems that only surface at scale or over months of use.
The four scoring dimensions
We score every tool on four dimensions, each on a 0–10 scale. We keep the dimensions consistent across tools so that comparisons are genuinely apples-to-apples.
- Ease of use (0–10). How quickly can a new user get to a working result? We look at onboarding, the clarity of the interface, the learning curve, the quality of templates, and how much technical knowledge is required to do something useful.
- Value for money (0–10). What you actually get for what you pay. We weigh entry pricing against feature limits, contact and usage caps, the cost of add-ons, and how the price scales as your business grows.
- Features (0–10). The breadth and depth of capability: funnels, email and SMS, automation, CRM, reporting, integrations, and how well those pieces work together rather than just existing on a feature list.
- Support (0–10). The quality and availability of help when something goes wrong: live chat, email, phone, response times, documentation, community, and onboarding assistance.
How we calculate the overall rating
The overall star rating you see on a tool is derived from those four dimension scores. We aggregate the 0–10 scores and convert the result to a 5-star scale, so a tool that scores consistently high across all four dimensions earns a high star rating, while a tool that is strong in one area but weak in another lands in the middle. We show the underlying dimension scores alongside the star rating so you can see why a tool scored the way it did and weight the dimensions that matter most to you.
Keeping data current
SaaS tools change constantly: prices shift, features ship, and support quality moves. We re-test the tools we cover on a quarterly basis and update scores whenever a meaningful change warrants it. Pricing is verified directly against each vendor's official pricing page at the time of review, and we note when a plan's limits or tiers have changed. If you ever spot a figure that looks out of date, please tell us through our contact page.
Our independence
SaaSComparer earns commissions through affiliate links, and we are open about that in our affiliate disclosure. But affiliate relationships never change a score. The testing process described above is identical whether a tool pays us a generous commission, a tiny one, or nothing at all. A vendor cannot buy a higher rating, a better ranking, or a more favorable review, full stop.
